Hill Top Preparatory School, the leading independent school on the Main Line of PA for neurodiverse students in grades 5 through 12, seeks to hire a High School Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year. For neurodiverse students, social-emotional growth is not a side benefit—it’s a central part of their education. That’s why our Counseling Department provides wraparound support designed to help students thrive in every aspect of life: academically, socially, and emotionally. Under the direction of the head of the clinical department, this position works with the clinical team, specifically with high school students, taking a holistic approach to care, addressing not only emotional and social development but also physical health, executive functioning, speech-language challenges, and daily living skills. By collaborating closely with teachers and families, they help create a stable, consistent environment where students feel safe, seen, and supported. Candidates with experience in counseling and/or social work along with the appropriate certifications are preferred. Experience working with neurodiverse students is also highly recommended.
Requirements
Conduct all parent/teacher conferences with the students’ mentor
Report on social/emotional progress
Facilitate weekly 'Perspectives' course that includes group counseling and social emotional development activities
Be “on call” during the school day to provide 1:1 support as needed
Coordinate with faculty to prepare behavior plans/interventions
Assist faculty in preparing personal education plans
Attend weekly department team meetings and weekly staff/team meetings
Attend IEP and re-evaluation meetings as needed
Provide frequent parent communication via email or phone
Correspond and coordinate treatment with outside professionals
Attend all school-related functions including: new student orientation, back-to-school night, etc.
Participate in activities and/or extracurricular activities
Additional:
Maintains all clearances required by Hill Top Preparatory School
Maintains a PA driver’s license
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administration and public partners
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of technology and knowledge of accessibility related programs and materials
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
