About Able to Play Able to Play Pty Ltd. delivers inclusive, community-based sports and social skill programs for children with disabilities aged 2–16 years. Established in 2022 and led by passionate directors Kirsten Larven (Senior Occupational Therapist) and Ingrid Honan (Senior Psychologist), who bring 30 years of combined experience, we are a small but growing business.
Our programs provide supportive, small-group environments where children can build motor and social-emotional skills while having fun. Unlike traditional one-on-one therapy, Able to Play focuses on engaging group activities that foster friendship, teamwork, and confidence. Across 10-week school terms, children participate in a variety of sports including gymnastics, basketball, soccer, rugby, tennis, athletics, volleyball, tee-ball, and yoga/Pilates while developing skills such as running, jumping, throwing, turn-taking, and understanding emotions.

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Allied Health Therapist to join our team on Saturday Mornings.
As the lead facilitator for our Saturday groups, you, along with our therapy assistant, will work with children and their families to deliver our specialised sport and social skills programs to children with disabilities. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for you to supplement your income or return to the workforce utilising your clinical expertise.
In this role you will:
Deliver engaging group therapy sessions, as outlined in our manualised programs, but tailored to each child’s strengths and goals
Provide guidance and work collaboratively with a co-facilitator therapy assistant
Set up and pack away group equipment
Work collaboratively with children, young people and their families
Review written programs weekly before each session and adjust as needed to ensure suitability for group participants
Provide clear and timely clinical documentation following each session, and NDIS progress reports where required
Participate in team meetings, supervision and professional development
Contribute to a positive, supportive and innovative team culture
About You You are a compassionate, confident and energetic clinician who enjoys working with children and their families, and values high quality, family centred intervention.
Essential Criteria
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Speech Pathology or Social Work
Current registration with AHPRA (if applicable) or relevant professional body (e.g. SPA, AASW)
Experience working with and creatively engaging children and young people
Demonstrated experience working autonomously and adapting flexibility to changing clinical needs
Demonstrated high level of energy and enthusiasm when working with children and families, with the ability to actively lead sport and movement-based therapy sessions
Strong verbal communication skills
Current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check, First aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Eligibility to work in Australia
Demonstrated reliability, professionalism and trustworthiness, and an ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standard
Desirable
Experience in paediatric or neurodevelopmental settings
Experience with NDIS clients
Experience running group intervention
Interest, knowledge of and/or passion for sports

At Able to Play we offer tailored group programs for children with disabilities. Children between the ages of 2 and 16 develop physical and social skills, all while having fun! The program was developed by an experienced occupational therapist and psychologist. Sport and recreational activities are designed for children who need extra behavioural, physical, cognitive, sensory and/or social-emotional support.
